I'm back with another Design Team Project for Country Craft Creations in Hooper. In this video, I'll show you my finished base pages for my December Daily. I have found that if I make my pages ahead of time, I'm more likely to get my book completed in a timely manner....like in January. My book from last year just got completed about 2 months ago because I made the pages whenever I had the time. The "junk journal/smashbook" type of book worked well for me in 2012, so I thought I would try that style again with this year's album. The paper collection I used is October Afternoon Make it Merry. The only other paper I used is kraft cardstock. I know that if I limit my supplies, I'll be happier and more likely to finish my project. I added transparencies from an old K&Co ephemera package I found in my stash and some Basic Grey letters and numbers that I picked up on clearance a few months ago. I used Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink to ink all the edges. Check out all the December Daily goodness in the video below:

I'm back with another Design Team Project for Country Craft Creations in Hooper. My November DT box included the 12x12 "Make it Merry" Collection from October Afternoon. I was all prepared to start my December Daily using another paper collection, but when I found out I was getting this in my DT box, I immediately changed my mind! I love the vintage colors of this paper collection.
Over the last several years of doing a December Daily I have come to the conclusion that I get the project completed in a timely manner IF I have my base pages already made before the holidays roll around. The first two years I had received a mini album and a "junk journal" already made for me. All I had to do was add my pictures. Those albums were completed by the end of January. My December Daily for 2013 was just finished in August of 2014....just a little bit late! My hopes this year are to have my base pages completed by the end of November and since this is my DT project for this month, I stand a pretty good chance! LOL I also decided to make it easier on myself by limiting my supplies. I used only this paper collection and kraft cardstock. I chose one color of ink (TH Distress Ink, Vintage Photo) and I have already pulled my embellishments from my stash and collected them all in a bag. I'm going to store everything together so that when it's time to work on this, I can just "grab and go" and hopefully get all the pictures and journaling in the book by the end of January.
I started my project by using the "Make a Countdown" paper. I cut the numbers apart and embellished each one for a page in my December Daily.

Welcome to another Tool Review Tuesday from the Lone Wolf Designs Design Team. One of my most favorite things to make is mini albums. I love being able to pick out my own paper and embellishments and build the album from scratch. The only problem--how do I bind it? Sure, you can punch holes and use ribbon or binder rings OR you can use a Bind-It-All and get a professional looking o-wire binding.
The BIA is an easy machine to use and would be a great addition to your craft room if you like to make mini albums, too. It's not too big, as you can see from the graphic below, it fits in your hand and it weighs about 3 pounds. Check out this YT video for a great introduction to the machine.

Need a cover for your album? Don't worry, you can get Cover-Alls. They are chipboard covers available in a variety of sizes, colors, and spine styles. Cover-Alls are a good choice if you don't want to make your own chipboard cover. Check out the video below to see a junk-journal that I made using a Cover-All.

My Lone Wolf Designs Design Team Showcase for this month features the "He Said" line of "He Said She Said" by Teresa Collins. I used a 6x6 pad, Die cut sheet, Cardstock sticker sheet, and Mini envelopes. All of these came together to create a cute mini album for my husband for Father's Day. For the mini album I used about 1/2 of the sheets from the paper pad and then added in a few pieces of Core'dinations cardstock and 3 different transparencies. I also made pages from a #8 tag, a piece of corrugated cardboard, and one of the mini envelopes from the collection. There are around 25 pages, which provides LOTS of room for photos. I used my photo editing software and added a 4-photo collage to each 4x6 sheet. When I sent them off to be printed, I had 8 regular 4x6 photos and 42 photo collages. Using the collage option allowed me to print smaller pictures (while having to do minimal cropping) which are perfect for this size of an album. I love mini albums. I love making them. I love receiving them. I love giving them as gifts. I just finished a vertical paper bag mini album as a bridal shower gift for a young lady in my church. She also happens to be my step-daughter's Sunday School teacher, so I put some extra love into it.
This 6 page mini album is made from the black Celebrate It lunch bags from Michael's. I used this tutorial video by Mysistersscrapper on YouTube to help me create this mini album. I used My Mind's Eye Lost and Found 2 Sunshine as my paper choice for this project. I used a 12x12 paper pad, 6x6 cardstock pad, and some assorted solid colors by Recollections.

It's a little chunky! I only used a 1/4" gusset between my pages...maybe I should have made it wider!

I also made a video flip-through of this mini album. This is a new video set up for me and I did go out of frame a few times. Sorry! I just got it last night (Thank You, Darren!) and had to record the video real quick this morning before we left for the bridal shower. I need to get something down there to use as a guide to make sure I stay in frame for future videos.
I love this style of mini album. I think I will make several more! The most time consuming part is building the base of the album and making the pages. That took at least 6 of the 12 hours that I spent working on this.
I am SO excited to be posting my very first Design Team Project for Lone Wolf Designs. I created a calendar/mini album for my friend, Katie. Please check out her YouTube channel: CraftyKhandy.
The album is approximately 5"x7." The cover is made with mat board and wrapped with Tim Holtz Shabby Vintage Paper Stash. I used my Bind-It-All and 1" o-wires for the binding. After taking the photos, I noticed that I didn't tie any ribbons and fibers to the binding. I'll be doing that before it gets in the mail to Katie.
I decorated the cover with a pretty floral arrangement. The blue flowers are by Prima and the leaves are from the dollar bin at Michael's. The cream paper flowers I received from my friend Tami for Christmas. I received the stick pin, metal embellishments and pearl trim in various swaps last year.
The paper stack I used is "Place in Time" by Graphic 45. I love every single sheet in this stack. Can you say that about a paper stack that you own? I'm glad I purchased two of these. I'm definitely going to have to make a mini album for myself with the other stack. : )
One of the things I love about G45 paper stacks is the "Cut Apart" page. For each month, there are 24 tags, cards, and strips on this page. That is a lot of embellishments! I used several of the these on each page of the mini album. There are several tags and a postcard which would be great for journaling. Several of the Cut Aparts are large enough for photos to be placed on the back.

The inside of the album is made with lightweight chipboard and black envelopes and cards (from Recollections). I painted the edges of the chipboard with black acrylic paint and then glued the envelopes down with mod podge. The chipboard is cut about 1/4" larger than the envelopes. The envelopes are sealed and then a sliver cut off one of the long sides so that it can be used as a pocket. Most of the large photo mats (on top of the envelopes) are cut from Stampin Up cardstock and they are cut about 1/4" smaller than the envelopes. Everything is inked with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Vintage Photo. The vintage calendar is a free printable from Crafty Secrets.
Inside the pocket I used the matching cards as a photo mat. I cut them in half and then cut them down to 4.5"x6.5," rounded the corners, and added a matching pull tab made with my Stampin' Up Tab Punch.
Here is a closeup of the March page. You can see that I used the large image from the Cut Apart page and glued it down to the base. I cut out the row of stamps and glued them down on 3 sides to make a pocket and then used dimensional foam tape on the bottom portion of the calendar.
The pages are all very similar. From the Cut Apart page I used the large image, one of the smaller images, the post card, a tag, and the calendar stick. There is also a monthly calendar image on each page.
On this month, I used some Fun Fur (specialty yarn) on one of the tags.
An example of how to use these elements would be to write a summary of the month on the calendar stick or just note important dates and events with a few dates and words. On the tag, you could have journaling on the front and a small photo on the back. The post card is large enough for an almost full-sized photo. You could place a smaller photo on the right hand side of the front or do some journaling on the address lines.
For July, I added a flower (from the dollar bin at Michael's) and a button to the top corner. I made a belly band by cutting one of the strips from the Cut Apart sheet and glued it down only on the two ends. I also added Glossy Accents to the red stars. Glossy Accents is one of my favorite items to use when crafting. It gives a nice shine or epoxy look to anything! On the February page (shown earlier in the post), I used Glossy Accents on the lipstick prints. I used my old Fiskar edge scissors to cut one of the stamps out and glued it on the bottom only to use a photo stop to keep the tags from falling out.
I'm not sure if you can tell it from these pictures, but I used gold glitter glue on the sand area of the large tag.
Christmas~my favorite time of year! I added another one of those flowers from the dollar bin at Michael's. I used one of the smaller pieces from the Cut Apart page and glued it down on two sides to make a pocket for the tags.
On these tags I used red glitter glue on the holly berries and clear on the mistletoe.

I had a lot of fun making this album. Once I decided on the general page design, it all came together quickly. The hardest part is trying to decide on additional embellishments for each page.
I'd like to leave with you a few tips to take your next creation up to the next level:
Ink your edges~Find an ink that you love, like Tim Holtz Distress Inks, and use it to ink all the edges in your project. It adds a nice dimension and finished touch to your project.
Dimensional adhesive~There are many kinds out there. Pick one that you like to work with and add dimension to your projects. It's amazing how a little bit of dimensional layering brings a new look to your work.
Shimmer and Shine~Stickles (or glitter glue) are great for adding a little something extra to your work. Glossy Accents provides that epoxy look with just a little bit of drying time.
Ribbons and Fibers~Great for pull tags and the bindings of your mini albums

This is an album for a baby, but I didn't use "baby" paper. I used "Today, Tomorrow, Forever" by Recollections. This customer needed 2 baby albums and I used this paper line for both of them. The first album was just an 8x8 album and pictures of it can be seen here. I wanted to do something a little bit different for this one. After spending way too much time on YouTube, I came across this tutorial by Kathy Orta. She made a mini album out of 5x7 cards and envelopes. How cool is that?!? After making this album with another brand of cards and envelopes, I would definitely recommend using the Recollections brand that she talks about in the video. Those envelopes and cards are very sturdy and will hold up well over time.
