Square Birthday Cards

I needed two birthday cards for friends this week. I decided that I wanted to use stick pins on my card. I have SO many of them, you know. I'm afraid my husband is going to tell me that I can't participate in any more stick pin swaps unless I start using some of them. LOL

These 5" x 5" square card bases have been in my stash for such a long time. They are actually embossed with hearts. I just covered it with patterned paper cut to fit inside the embossed edge. You can still see it on the inside, but I'm OK with that. :)

Both of these cards were based loosely on Sketch #8.

On the pink card, the flower was kind of small, so I just added some pieces of tulle behind it. It helps to make it a little bit bigger without distracting from the card.

Paper: 6x6 pad of 7gypsies Paddington, red and pink cardstock from my stash
Tim Holtz Texture Fades
Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Festive Berries
Versa Color Ink, Orchid
The flowers and stick pins are from swaps. (I made SURE to tell my husband that I really DO use these things on projects!)

  1. Hi DeAnna,

Thanks so much for letting me know that you've used my card sketch! You've interpreted the sketch in your own way and created such beautiful cards from it, and your stick pins do look pretty! I'm very pleased to see your creations. Your friends are gonna love what you've made for them.

    All the best,
    Fion
